Expectations were high. After a careful restoration, the former Visitation Sainte-Claire convent, founded in 1604 in Old Nice, has returned to life as Hôtel du Couvent.
Behind its centuries-old walls, just steps from the lively streets of Nice, the hotel reveals a quieter world: one hectare of terraced gardens, shaded terraces, fruit trees, and a suspended swimming pool facing the rooftops of Nice and the Mediterranean.
Part of The Luxury Collection, Hôtel du Couvent offers a discreet, almost monastic kind of elegance, where time seems to slow down. Its spirit lies in a rare balance of heritage, Mediterranean simplicity, and deep well-being. The Roman baths, inspired by the ancient remains of Cimiez, create a thermal journey through the tepidarium, caldarium, and frigidarium.

Hôtel du Couvent offers 88 rooms and suites, ranging from 23 m² for the most monastic rooms to 166 m² for the apartments. The design is intentionally pared back, honoring the soul of the original building: clean volumes, natural materials, warm tones, soft light, and custom-made furniture create a hushed atmosphere that feels both contemporary and timeless.
Each room seems to carry the convent’s story forward without freezing it in the past. The lines are simple, the details precise, and the textures chosen with quiet restraint. Some suites open onto private terraces overlooking the gardens or the sea, offering a rare sense of privacy in the heart of Nice.
The cloister, with its original arches and columns, is home to the main restaurant, where the cuisine draws on local traditions and seasonal ingredients. In the gardens, a 20-meter swimming pool looks out over the city, while a discreet guinguette offers lunch in the shade of the fig trees.
